Elizabeth M. Clark, Ph.D., M.B.A., Davis, California
Pharmaceutical Marketing and Distribution

Dr. Clark is Medical Science Liaison Manager with Janssen Pharmaceutica, Titusville, New Jersey. As part of the CNS Medical Business Development program, she is responsible for developing and managing opinion leader relationships, data dissemination, advisory board planning, medical education programs, clinical development projects and extramural research projects at university medical centers in the Pacific Northwest. Prior to joining Janssen Pharmaceutica, Dr. Clark was a Biotech Specialist with the MarkeTech Group, a division of the Technology Development Center in West Sacramento, California. As a member of the MarkeTech Group, Dr. Clark conducted and analyzed marketing research, developed proposals and prepared reports for strategic marketing and technology assessment projects for diagnostic and biopharmaceutical client companies. Dr. Clark received her Ph.D. in Pharmacology and Toxicology in 1995 from the Department of Biological Chemistry at the University of California, Davis and her M.B.A. in Technology Management and Finance from the UC Davis School of Business Management in 1997.

Wasyl Malyj, Ph.D., Davis, California
Emerging Technologies and Informatics

Dr. Malyj is Assistant Director of the Veterinary Genetics Laboratory at the University of California, Davis, and one of the founding faculty of the Medical Informatics Graduate Group. Dr. Malyj also serves as Director of the Center for High Performance Computing and Bioinformatics in the Section of Molecular and Cellular Biology in the Division of Biological Science at UC Davis. Dr. Malyj has extensive experience and expertise in bioinformatics and teaches courses in data acquisition, signal and image processing, data mining, concept extraction and data analysis. He led the design and implementation of low-cost high-throughput DNA STR marker testing for animal parentage at UC Davis. His current research interests include the design and development of informatic support systems and parallel-processor hardware approaches capable of high-volume, low-cost, whole-genome scanning of research and clinical samples. Dr. Malyj is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc. (IEEE), the Society of Photo-Optical and Instrumentation Engineers (SPIE), and the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE). He also serves as an advisor to numerous biotechnology and information technology companies.

Michael Richman, M.S.B.A., Gaithersburg, Maryland
Business Development and Investment Strategy

Mr. Richman has over 21 years of experience working in research, intellectual property and business development capacities in companies such as Chiron Corporation and MedImmune, Inc., where he was Senior Vice President Corporate Development prior to his joining MacroGenics. While at MedImmune, Mr. Richman was responsible for all Business Development, Licensing, Intellectual Property, Legal Affairs, Project Management and Strategic Planning functions, and drove over $1.6 billion in transactions. His transactional and M&A experience, management skills and familiarity with the scientific and intellectual aspects of biotechnology product development are invaluable in building MacroGenics portfolio of product candidates and technology. Mr. Richman obtained his B.S. in Genetics/Molecular Biology at the University of California at Davis and his M.S.B.A. in International Business at San Francisco State University.

Atsuhiko Shinmyo, Ph.D., Osaka, Japan
International Projects-Asia/Pacific

Dr. Shinmyo is recognized internationally as an expert in the fields of chemical engineering and biotechnology. He is a professor in the Laboratory of Plant Metabolic Engineering at the Graduate School of Biological Sciences, Nara Institute of Science and Technology Education (NAIST), in Japan. He joined NAIST in 1994 after serving as a professor of biotechnology in the Graduate School of Engineering at Osaka University since 1970. Dr. Shinmyo received his Ph.D. in Engineering from the Department of Fermentation Sciences at Osaka University in 1970 and was a postdoctoral fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 1977 to 1978. He was appointed to the Executive Council at NAIST in 2001 and will serve as Dean of Bioscience in 2002. He serves on numerous editorial boards and professional societies, including the Kansai Bio-Industry Association, the Japan Society for Bioscience, Biotechnology and Agrochemistry, the Japanese Biochemical Society, the Japan Bio-Industry Association and the Japanese Society for the Promotion of Science. He is a fellow with the American Academy of Microbiology and currently serves as Vice President of the Japanese Society for Biotechnology. Dr. Shinmyo advises several government agencies on emerging trends in biotechnology and lectures widely on biotechnology and its impact on global health and the environment.

Adam Warwick Bell, B.Sc., Ph.D., J.D., Cupertino, California
Patent Counsel

Adam Warwick Bell holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from The University of Oxford, and J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, and is a registered United States patent attorney specializing in biotech patent law.  Dr. Bell previously served as Patent Counsel for Incyte Genomics and is presently Patent Counsel for Durect Corporation in Cupertino, California.

Thomas Y. Chen, M.S., San Francisco, California
Information and Computer Technologies

Thomas Y. Chen is currently the Director of Systems Management and Web Development for Davis Bioscience Group. Mr. Chen's responsibilities include all activities related to domestic and international information technology services. He provides Davis Bioscience Group with an array of technical expertise, ranging from marketing and graphic design to software development. Mr. Chen currently spearheads the development, analysis and management of the Davis Bioscience Group BioIndex, a stock tracking index of select, publicly-traded life sciences companies used by Davis Bioscience Group as a performance indicator for small cap companies. Mr. Chen worked for several high tech companies including Intel, Cisco Systems, and Oracle, where he was one of their youngest employees entering at age 16. Mr. Chen was also an Associate Product and Marketing Manager with Macromedia (Adobe), and an electrical and computer engineer for Motorola. Mr. Chen served as the Chairman of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc. (IEEE) at the University of California, Davis (UC Davis). Mr. Chen received a combined M.S. degree in both Electrical and Computer Engineering from UC Davis. As an MCI (Verizon) International Scholar, he graduated with UC Davis Honors (DHC) and leadership recognition after excelling in the University's Student Leadership Development Series.

David F. Dickson, B.S., Sacramento, California
Marketing and Public Relations

Mr. Dickson is currently Senior Vice President for Operations and Marketing for Synergex International Corporation, a Gold River, California-based software tools and services company with more than 2 million end-users in all 50 states and more than 80 countries. Mr. Dickson's responsibilities include all activities related to domestic and international business development, product strategies, marketing communications and operations, and brand strategy. Since 2000, Mr. Dickson has overseen the launch and operations of Synergex's newest business unit, Integrated Solutions Group, providing Internet-related professional services to healthcare, biotechnology and other technology-based companies. Prior to joining Synergex, Mr. Dickson spent 13 years with IBM, where he was Manager of North America/Worldwide distributed storage products. As manager of the worldwide marketing support team, he helped to grow Open Systems Storage revenues from $140 million to $850 million in two years. He also was directly responsible for North American field support, technical training, product requirements, sales force liaison and key customer management. Mr. Dickson received his B.S. in Civil Engineering from San Diego State University in 1984.
